Luxury On The Hawkesbury
Sydney Morning Herald
Saturday March 25, 1995
Brooklyn house sales were $1.7 million last year, an increase on the 1993 figure of $1 million.
Average private treaty sales of houses increased by 22 per cent to $198,000 compared with $161,000 in 1993.
Recent local sales include a vacant elevated north-facing building site at Brooklyn with water views which sold for $185,000; a restored historic stone cottage with two bedrooms and study at Brooklyn which sold for $285,000; a three-bedroom two-storey cottage on the water's edge at Dangar Island which sold for $330,000; and a waterfront three-bedroom cedar home with boathouse and jetty and sandy beach on Dangar Island which sold for $550,000.
A waterfront residence, Acelands at Wobby Beach, Hawkesbury River, is for sale.
The three-storey full-brick residence is less than one hour from Sydney by rail or freeway and the regular ferry service takes you straight to the front door.
The house has six bedrooms and five bathrooms; part of the accommodation consists of a separate guests' wing on the mezzanine level.
The living areas are open-plan, with a separate dining room, full-size billiard room and fully equipped kitchen.
The house has a heated in-ground pool, spa, sauna, change rooms, char-grill, fully-equipped wet bar with ice-making machine, glass washer and commercial refrigerator.
At the tiled waterfront jetty area is a hydraulic lifting cradle for the 8.5-metre Bayliner Cruiser and the Broadbill Marlin runabout.
A lift services all levels of the residence up to the large roof-top garden/entertaining area.
A bonus is a caretaker's unit that is self-contained from the main residence.
The agent handling the sale is Hawkesbury River Real Estate's Kathy Hobbins (985 7611) with inspections by appointment.
The property is on the market with an asking price of $1.5 million. The total package offers all the furniture, fittings, the pleasure water craft, an 8.5-metre Bayliner Cruiser, five-metre Broadbill Marlin and a 3.5-metre runabout.
